The Plan Tour

A short interactive walkthrough of Plan mode, offered the first time you work in Plan and replayable from Settings.

The Plan tour shows you how to run work on a board. Like the Welcome Tour, it works on the real editor rather than screenshots: it puts an example board on your canvas, adds a few cards, moves one along, opens it, and spotlights each part with a highlight ring and a short explanation. It takes about a minute, and you can leave at any point.

When it's offered

The first time you work in Plan mode (switching a tab to Plan, or opening a Plan board) a centred card asks whether you'd like a look around: Show me around starts the tour, No thanks dismisses it. If the Welcome Tour is still running, the Plan tour waits until it has finished.

The offer appears once ever. However you answer (decline, skip midway, or finish), it won't come back on its own, and if you're signed in the answer follows you to every device.

What it covers

  1. Your board: the example board, a Kanban board, and where the other boards come from. See Boards.
  2. Add cards: the Add card button at the foot of each column, and dropping a card from the palette.
  3. Move work along: dragging a card to the next column, or Shift and an arrow key.
  4. The card panel: everything about one piece of work, saved as you type. See Cards.
  5. The board header: the widgets that count and filter the board, and a column's cog.
  6. Card types: the colours and fields of each kind of card. See Card types.
  7. The Plan palette: cards, boards, widgets, metrics and visualisations.

Your work is left alone

  • The tour's example board and cards are its own. It never adds cards to your boards or changes them.
  • Everything it made is taken away when the tour ends, however it ends. If you close the window mid-tour, it's tidied up the next time you open the document.
  • None of it goes into your undo history, so Undo afterwards never brings it back.
  • Anyone else in the document at the time sees the example board come and go.

Replaying the tour

Open Settings from the editor and go to Accessibility.
Switch Show Plan Tour back on.

Close Settings. If you're in Plan mode the tour starts straight away; otherwise it's offered the next time you work in Plan.
