A quiz is one multiple-choice question on the board. The facilitator starts it, everybody picks an answer before the time runs out, and the reveal shows the right one.
Setting one up
Drop a Quiz from the Ask group in Behaviours. It arrives with a sample question so you can see what it does. To write your own, press the … on the card and choose Edit Question…: type the question, give it two to six answers, mark the Correct one, and pick a Time Limit.
Nobody else sees the question or the answers until you press Start, so the room cannot read ahead while you are still talking.
Running a round
Press Start. The question moves into the middle of the circle, the answers fan out around it, and a ring around the question counts down the time.
- Anyone who can edit the diagram presses an answer to pick it. Their own pick is marked You; pressing a different answer moves it, and pressing the same one again takes it back.
- The circle shows how many people have answered, never what they picked.
- Lock Now closes the round early, for when everyone is in.
When the time is up the answers stop taking presses and the card says Time's up.
The reveal
Press Reveal Answer. The right answer pops out in green, the others fade back, and every answer shows how many people picked it, with their avatars beside it, so you can see at a glance who got it right. The middle of the circle keeps the score. Run Again clears the picks and closes the card for another round.
If somebody is facilitating, editing, starting, locking, revealing and resetting are theirs; everybody else can still answer.
Worth knowing
- The right answer is saved in the diagram like everything else on it, so it is hidden on the card, not secret. Don't use a quiz for anything that matters if someone peeks.
- The countdown runs on each person's own clock, so a computer whose clock is a few seconds out locks a few seconds early or late.
- Visitors on a view-only link can watch the round and the reveal but cannot answer.
- Saving an edit resets the round, because picks made against the old answers no longer mean anything.
